Heartland Collects Over 1,000 Items in
4th Annual Coat Drive
Heartland organized the first annual coat drive in 2007 and has
collected more than 2,200 coats since that first drive. New to the
2010 drive, Heartland also accepted gloves, hats and scarves and the
response was great. Over 1,000 items were collected to keep those in
need warm - 612 coats, 237 hats, 84 scarves and 122 pairs of gloves.
“We appreciate Heartland’s commitment to this yearly event and are
overwhelmed by the continued support of the drive year-after-year,”
said John Kemp, Executive Director of Neighbors, Inc.”
In
addition to Heartland branches, a variety of local businesses and
organizations in Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul and West St.
Paul served as collection sites. These businesses include South
Family YMCA, Old World Pizza, The Black Sheep Café, The Grove, First
Calvary Baptist Church and Waterous Company.
The success of this drive was made possible by those businesses and
organizations as well as the generosity of our members, employees and area
residents who donated.
