In addition
to a regularly qualified member, the spouse of a member,
the blood or adoptive
relatives of either of them and their spouses and members of the same household
are eligible to join. This includes parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, cousins, etc.
If the member is married, their
in-laws (all of the relatives listed above) are also eligible for membership.
The spouse does not have to be a member to qualify his or her relatives. For
example: Mary is a member; Mike is not. Because Mary and Mike are married, all
of Mike’s relatives are eligible.
Remember that a relative qualifies
for membership based on being related to a member, not simply being related to
an employee. For example: Mark works for CHS, but is not a Heartland member. Mark’s
relatives are not eligible to join until Mark does. The eligibility for
relatives of someone who is already a member is the same as outlined above.
Heartland abides by the philosophy
of “Once a Member, Always a Member”. As long as you maintain the minimum
required balance in their share account and are a member in good standing,
membership continues no matter where the member may live or work. However, if
you close your account, you would have to qualify for membership again.
Organizations (bowling teams, etc.)
may join as long as 50% or more of the group qualifies membership.
