In order to make your online experience with
Heartland as secure as possible, Heartland
employs Mutifactor Authentication–
a new security system which uses a
personalized Security Key, Random Code and Security
Questions to protect your accounts.
Multifactor
Authentication adds a layer of protection to
your online accounts by letting you know
you're at our real website, and letting us
know that it's really you trying to login to
your accounts.
When you
register for Multifactor Authentication,
you'll be required to create a Security Key,
select personal Security Questions and to
provide answers to those questions.
Afterwards, when you login to
Online Banking,
you'll only enter your account number
(member number) and random code on the first
page. Then, when you see the Security Key you selected on
the second page, you can feel confident that
you're on our real website and it's safe to
enter your access code. (It's important to
make sure you never enter your access code
without first seeing your Security Key.)
If our
system does not
recognize the computer you're using when you
login, we'll ask you to verify your identity
by answering a Security Question. You can
choose to have the system remember your
computer so you won't have to answer your
Security Question in the future. Do not save
your information on public computers in such
places as hotel lobbies, Internet cafes,
libraries, etc. Please read the
FAQs for more
information. A
video demo is also available, as well as
step-by-step instructions. Please
contact us if you have further
questions.
