Heartland Collects Over 1,000
Pounds of Personal Care Items for Those in Need
April
1, 2009 –
Heartland collected 1,111 pounds of
personal care items in our recent “Personal Care Drive”
for Neighbors, Inc., a non-profit social service agency
serving Northern Dakota County.
According to John Kemp, Neighbors Executive Director,
personal care items are always in short supply. “We are
thrilled with the results of this drive. We have never had
so many personal care items on our shelves, from toothpaste
and toothbrushes to diapers and detergent – at least for
now, our shelves are full,” said Kemp.
Heartland organized the Personal Care drive as part of
Minnesota Food Share Month and arranged for drop-off
sites throughout the community. “After we heard about the
shortage in personal care items we couldn’t wait to help.
We’ve had such success with our Annual Coat drive, we knew
the community would be eager to help us fill this void,”
said Pam O’Connell, Heartland President. “We are thrilled
with the response from the community and would like to thank
everyone for their donations.”
Local businesses and
organizations in Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul and
West St. Paul who served as collection sites and contributed
to the success of the personal care drive include; South
Family YMCA, Old World Pizza, Black Sheep Coffee Café, The
Grove, Pathways to Play, First Calvary Baptist Church,
Waterous Company, Pro Pharmacy and Copy Right Printing.
